The CSG Foundation, established by the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), is significantly expanding its activities and increasing the amount allocated to key projects that enhance safety and community development. Due to extraordinary interest, particularly from volunteer firefighters, the originally planned CZK 30 million in support has been increased to a total of CZK 50 million for this year.
In the first round of the grant call for firefighters, the fund received nearly 600 applications from all regions of the Czech Republic, of which 105 projects have been selected so far. Another grant call will be announced in the second half of 2025. The highest number of applications came from the Central Bohemian Region (87 applications) and the Moravian-Silesian Region (86 applications). Supported projects focus on strengthening the operational readiness of volunteer firefighters, including the purchase of intervention equipment, protective gear, repairs of firefighting vehicles and stations, as well as organizing firefighter competitions and youth programs. All applicants will be informed of the results by the end of June 2025.
"We decided to increase our support because we saw immense interest and a clear need in the field. We want to be a partner who actively contributes to safety and community development—and most importantly, a partner who helps those in need," said David Chour, a member of the board of trustees of the CSG Foundation.
The CSG Foundation was established this year, when the CSG group also celebrates its 30th anniversary. It is built on three pillars of support. The first is enhancing safety through support for the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic and volunteer firefighter units, which play a key role in saving lives and property. The second pillar is the support of non-profit projects initiated by CSG employees, covering charitable activities, sports or cultural events, and youth programs. In this round, the fund will support 24 employee-led projects selected from a total of 112 applications from six countries. In the future, the fund plans to develop its third pillar: support for education and young talents.
"Even though the CSG Foundation has only existed for a few months, it is quickly becoming a major philanthropic institution. Thanks to support for employee projects in multiple countries, it is also gaining a global footprint. I look forward to many more great projects that will be realized thanks to the CSG Foundation," said Kateřina Petko, Executive Director of the Fund.
